In the age of movies and the internet the popularity of Robin Hood as one of the most famous mythological characters of the middle ages remains unbroken. Ever new stories were written about the outlaw and only by and by he became linked to the idea of taking from the rich to give to the poor so strongly linked to him today. His role has been and still being adapted to the values and ideas of the respective times. The presentation will show the development of Robin Hood stories through the ages and deal with the question of historical inspirations for the legends.
